One of the biggest causes of relationship problems is the lack of understanding about boundaries.
Healthy boundaries can also support healthy communication. They are truly necessary for a loving relationship. When we know our boundaries (and have the communication tools to set and enforce them with love and understanding) we create safety and trust for both parties. When we don't know our boundaries or how to express our needs we set ourselves and our partners up for failure and not getting our needs met . There’s an art to setting boundaries. It takes time, support, and often times, relearning to be able to set effective boundaries. Self-awareness and learning that it's ok to be assertive are the first steps. You can learn to be assertive, loving, caring, calm and relaxed at the same time.
